Experienced in healthcare advocacy, administration and law; navigating patients and families with knowledge and support.
I was raised on the East Coast, and have called Chicagoland my home for 15 years. I earned a Master's of Science in Health Administration, a Master's of Jurisprudence from Loyola Chicago Beazley Institute Law School. In addition, my undergraduate degree is a B.S/Business from the University of Vermont. I have four grown sons. I enjoy tennis, skiing ,sailing, gardening, the arts and cooking. My golden retriever Wrigley is the glue of my family! Years ago, I resided in Chapel Hill, NC where I started a small concierge word of mouth Health and Financial Advocacy company. It was born organically when a classmate of my son needed a bone marrow transplant. I saw a gap in communications between clinical staff and administration regarding insurance and more. The parents of the patient experienced one year of chronic frustration with insurance navigation. Within one month of my hire, this patient received a bone marrow transplant. I took that experience and continued to help patients in many specialties; pediatrics, premature births, infertility, cancer, geriatrics, long-term diseases, psychiatry, clinical trials, cardiac, ICU and more. In addition, my experience has grown into coordinating lower costs for patients by building relationships with pharmaceutical firms in reducing medicines including long lasting injectables. My wish for any client I work with is to discover together the root of what the challenge is, and to find solutions that deliver the best care for the patient, and relief to their families. It's been my experience with the exponential growth of health care systems, that doctors are more removed from their patients. The unfortunate truth is healthcare is a business. CEO's are making millions, physicians are often dictated by their healthcare executives who offer unrealistic expectations. As a result, healthcare is often compromised. Every patient has rights. Any physician treating a patient has taken a hippocratic oath that should be honored. It's important that patients have a professional advocate working for them. This technique often mitigates stress, and boosters the attention of the healthcare system treating the patient. Thank you for your time and consideration!
