At the age of 41, I was diagnosis with hydrocephalus, a condition I had barely heard of and knew nothing about. Although my father is not a doctor, fortunately he spent his career in the medical field, so was able to help me navigate the vast network of information about the condition, treatments, hospitals, doctors, etc. I had a successful endoscopic third ventriculostomy (ETV) four years later, and since then, have been managing minor symptoms and challenges of my condition. Recently, a close family friend was diagnosed with the same type of hydrocephalus I have.
