Specializing in Assisting Patients and caregivers of non-verbal individuals with Autism, Dementia, and Special Needs
Mary Anne Downing received her Bachelor's degree in Speech and Communication. She obtained her Master's in Healthcare Advocacy from Assumption University in 2021. She has over 10 years of experience working with children and adults in addressing their psychosocial needs. She considers herself a upstreamist who looks at the whole person and their environment to find solutions to offer her clients. During her master's program, Mary Anne created a communication checklist that patients, their caregivers, and advocates could utilize to assist their healthcare providers to create smoother more productive appointments with more positive outcomes. Mary Anne's Master's Capstone Project was to Improving Healthcare for Autistic Patients. She hopes that the future of healthcare will be creating medical homes for patients in order for them to have all their physicians to be located under one roof to facilitate a continuum of care placing the patient's needs first and above all else a priority.
