Providing medical advocacy and navigational services for aging adults and their families in Central Texas.

I have worked as an Advanced Practice Nurse since 2007 in a variety of specialties (Hematology/Oncology, Endocrinology, Geriatrics and Palliative Care) as well as in a variety of settings (clinic, hospital, Skilled Nursing Facility, Long Term Care facility, and Assisted Living facility). I feel this gives me a unique perspective on the increasingly complex healthcare system. In 2021, I discovered the role of Patient Advocate and was drawn to it. My experience allows me to help patients and families navigate new diagnoses, multiple providers, and changes in level of care needs. I am based in Austin, TX and work with clients all over Central Texas. As a patient advocate, my main areas of focus are on medical advocacy and helping families with transitional care. In medical advocacy, I work to ensure that patients receive the best possible medical care and have access to the information they need to make informed decisions about their health. This may involve advocating for patients' rights, helping them navigate the healthcare system, and working with healthcare providers to ensure that patients receive appropriate and effective treatments. In helping families with transitional care, my focus is on providing support and guidance to patients and their families during times of transition, such as when a patient is moving from the hospital to a rehabilitation center or from a rehabilitation center to their home. This may involve coordinating care between different healthcare providers, helping patients and their families understand their options for care, and providing emotional support to patients and their families during what can be a difficult and stressful time. By focusing on both medical advocacy and transitional care, I am able to provide comprehensive support to patients and their families throughout their healthcare journey.
