I have been in and around the healthcare industry my entire professional career. I have been a licensed Emergency Medical Technician for over 31 years, providing patient care in for-profit and nonprofit settings. I hold a degree in accounting from The University of Alabama at Birmingham. I spent 14 years working for Alabama's largest health insurance provider, conducting reimbursement audits for both private and governmental insurance. I have also worked for the state's most extensive hospital system, reimbursing clinical trials. I have set foot inside almost every hospital in Alabama and have also done work in various hospitals across the country. My time as both a provider of healthcare and on the business and insurance side of healthcare has led to a vast experience dealing with the many players in our healthcare systems. I am also a cancer survivor and understand how it feels to be in a patient's shoes. Additionally, my daughter was found to have a tumor at the age of 7 months. Her path to recovery took many twists and turns, including a misdiagnosis, major surgeries, chemotherapy treatments, proton radiation treatments, a stem cell transplant, more blood transfusions than I could count, and a temporary, 6-month relocation 900+ miles away from home for her care. Through all of these experiences, I have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly of healthcare. It is this life-long experience that sets me apart. I have successfully navigated more than $5 million in healthcare charges for my daughter alone. Whether it's a medical billing issue, a care issue, or just needing help to make the next decision concerning the healthcare for you or a loved one, I am here to help.
I listen to your situation and the concerns you are having with your healthcare experience. If your situation is something I feel I can help with, we can move forward. From there, I develop a plan to help solve your particular issue within the healthcare system. I discuss my plan with clients to ensure I am not missing anything and to let them know more details of my approach. I am available outside of normal business hours because I understand that your health doesn't operate on a normal business hours schedule.
During our intro call, I will listen to you to learn about your situation and what concerns you. From there we will discuss how I can help improve your healthcare experience. You can ask me questions about the services I provide. The goal of this call it determine if I am a good fit for your scenario and develop an understanding of my process.
